Though unable to do what he used to do, Pastor Ed has just changed venues. For over ten years now, he has been encouraging people via email. He has graciously agreed to be a contributing author to this website. This series of posts entitled, “Heart To Heart” are the fruit of his times with our Lord Jesus! If they mean as much to you as they do me, then EMAIL him and let him know about it!
Jesus taught His disciples lessons in prayer both by example and by verbal instruction. The first lesson was to enter into your inner chamber (closet) and get alone with the Father, asking of Him in secret and He will reward openly. The second lesson is that of united prayer. We need to meet in secret with God alone and we need to meet with those who find the name of Jesus precious and powerful.
The reason being is that the bond, which unites a Christian to his fellow Christians, is no less real than the bond that unites him to God. He is one with them also. Grace renews our relationship to God, but also to men. God is our Father and fellow Christians are our brothers and sisters in the family of God. We learn both to say “my Father” and “our Father.” Believers are members of one body and one family, spiritually. We meet with our Father, alone, but also with our spiritual family in His presence.
So, Christians cannot have the full blessing God desires to give, if this assembly is neglected. God is ready, through the Spirit, to bestow all that the assembly will receive. It was 120 praying in one accord and in one place that the power came from the Throne to empower His early disciples to be His witnesses. The Lord will do great things in us and through us if we trust and obey.
